What with me updating my own blog’s theme, the banner contest over at Pretty Scythe and lolitron’s new IE hatin’ theme, I guess this is anime blog update season huh?

Maybe I will make a banner for the contest, maybe I won’t. Everyone’s doing it though! I actually have a cool idea for a header and tagline, but I dunno if I could actually implement it well.

How are my own headers looking? The Magikano one looks a bit out of place I know; maybe I’ll replace it with something monochromatic like the other ones. I feel that since I have a unique header (that rotates), and I’ve gotten comment spam, I’m a real blog now! Well, not me myself, but my blog.

And yeah, I’m hoping to actually blog about anime soon, but where are the subs for the new season? I could try previewing a series raw; now that would be comedy gold.

You may have noticed that Basugasubakuhatsu Anime Blog looks a little different! Yep, after leeching off of the Blix theme for so long, I’ve decided to leech off of K2! It’s really an awesome theme. I’m gonna be working on it a little more, so expect a new header graphic and other coolness! Stay tuned!

Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl. The title says it all! This anime had me at "Girl Meets Girl!" Seriously though, after reading the description of this anime, I thought it would be a low quality ero-game type dissapointment. The character designs looked good, but would the plot actually work out? Read on to find out!

Magikano (or Majikano?) seems like a pretty typical anime on the outside. It just looks like yet another magical harem where a few of the girls just happen to be the guy’s sisters. Taking a closer look though, I think Magikano has a lot of things going for it that set it apart from other anime coming out this season.

Wow, I just got my first comment spam! This is a milestone of sorts for my little anime blog. I actually joked about wanting to get comment spam on Anime on My Mind. Maybe the spammers listened…

Anyway, the odd thing was that the spam didn’t even make any sense! It wasn’t like, "check out my site!" or anything like that. Why don’t I just include the text (minus the links of course):

Great post! I’m looking forward for more. Rape Soldier is very good Pair, Compute Mistery is very good Opponents when Pair is Slot it will Make Grass, Player will Gnome unconditionally when Mistery Percieve Pair Lose

I mean, WTF? Rape Soldier? At first I thought that could have been some anime, but then it was apparent that akismet really picked up the comment spam. Maybe I can collect these, and when I have enough, I can write a really crazy book!

If you’re having trouble with these kind of comments, I really do urge you to install the akismet plugin. That is, if you’re on wordpress.

Before I saw this episode, I only knew two things about Kagihime Monogatari Eikyuu Alice Rinbukyoku. For one, it has a really long name (let’s call it Kagihime from now on)! I also knew that certain characters would have bunny ears. After seeing the first episode, can I honestly recommend watching more of this anime? Read on to find out!

The results are in! Well, actually I just figured that the voting was kind of getting out of control (read: only 6 people voted), so I ended the poll. Anyway, here are the surprising results to the first ever Basugasubakuhatsu official poll, Which Winter 2006 anime are you looking forward to most?:

That’s right, REC won! It probably had something to do with the small sample size and large bust size of the girl in the picture. 3 people voted for REC, that’s 50%!

3-way tie for #2: Fate/stay night, Kage Kara Mamoru!, and Ginyuu Mokushiroku Meine Liebe Wieder

Yup, the other three votes were split. Guess who voted for Kage Kara Mamoru? Fate/stay night at least got one vote, and Ginyuu Mokushiroku Meine Liebe Wieder got the other. The poll results were kind disappointing, but I gotta start somewhere right?

Hot off the trail of this poll comes the current poll: Fillers: Yay or Nay?

After writing about the whole Beach Episode cliche stuff, I got to thinking about filler episodes. There’s also been a bunch of talk about the annoying Naruto filler episodes coming out.

My opinion is that fillers are ok as long as something meaningful (like character development) happens. That, or swimsuits! I’m looking for a higher turnout rate for this poll, so please register for the forums and vote! This poll runs for 1 week, so vote early, and vote often*!

Almost every anime has filler episodes: The episode where nothing meaningful happens as the animators wait for the manga source to be finished. Although some filler episodes can be interesting, most of the time they draw from a pool (pun!) of clichÃ© scenarios. The Beach Episode is usually just an excuse to show the females of the series in bathing suits (not that I’m complaining!).

The Beach Episode has been so refined that I can simply explain what happens without ever mentioning a particular series. Pretty much every Beach Episode is the same (with different characters of course), so here is a brief rundown of a typical Beach Episode:

For once, I’ve actually gone through with one of my New Year’s Resolutions! I finished watching Mahoraba ~Heartful Days~!
