Kamichama Karin Vol. 2 – Manga Review

kamichama-karin-2-cover.jpg

I just got through the Kamichama Karin manga’s second volume, and I’m glad to say that it doesn’t suffer from the same QC issues as the anime version. I think.

Kamui Vol. 7 – Manga Review

kamui-7-cover.jpg

After catching up with the series, I finally had to wait a while for more Kamui. By the time I started reading the 7th volume, I think I forgot a lot of the plot. Luckily, this volume contains a “preview” that sums up a lot of the previous plot. Yay for that!

High School Girls Vol. 1 – Manga Review

high-school-girls-1-cover.jpg

I remember watching the first episode of Joshikosei GIRLS HIGH and thinking it was totally lame. But also thinking it was kind of funny. I never continued watching the anime, but I did get a crapload of the manga to review!

Shakugan no Shana Vol. 1 – Manga Review

shakugan-no-shana-manga-cover-1.jpg

Yesterday I reviewed the Shakugan no Shana DVD. Today I’m reviewing the Shakugan no Shana manga! It’s all part of a series I like to call: Shanathon! Or not.

Nodame Cantabile Vol. 4 – Manga Review

nodame-cantabile-4-cover.jpg

I just noticed that each cover of Nodame Cantabile has Nodame playing a different instrument. Volume 4 has her playing a flute. I don’t think it suits her, though. She should stick to weird instruments like the vibraslap and the theremin. She’ll probably start pulling out the obscure instruments once the manga hits volume 40 or so…

Kedamono Damono Vol. 1 – Manga Review

kedamono-damono-1-cover.jpg

Here’s a zen question: When is a trap not a trap? Perhaps when the trap switches their sex magically by night? Such is the case in Kedamono Damono, a yuri manga that I just recently came across.

My Heavenly Hockey Club Vol. 1 – Manga Review

my-heavenly-hockey-club-1-cover.jpg

My Heavenly Hockey Club is like one part Ouran High School Host Club, and one part Mighty Ducks. Except in this version of the Mighty Ducks, the team sucks hard and never gets better (or even has a game)…

Cipher Vol. 1 – Manga Review

cipher-cover.jpg

Typically, a cipher is a way to encrypt information for security purposes. My favorite is the Caesar Cipher, since it’s so easy to break. But in the context of manga, Cipher is actually this dude who gets yaoi with his twin brother… I prefer the former…

Vertical Inc: Bringing You Emo Manga Since 2007!

emo-bookmark-small.jpg

I got some random bookmarks in a recent press package from Vertical Inc. One for Apollo’s Song and another for To Terra. I actually read the text on the bookmarks today (because really, who can be bothered to read?) and I caught this delightful gem. The bookmark reads:

To Terra… The hit sci-fi emo manga by shoujo-master Keiko Takemiya.

How freaking awesome is that!? Emo manga? Seriously. This is by far the coolest bookmark I’ve ever possessed. I haven’t seen the To Terra anime at all… Does it have Weezer playing in the background or something? I would love it if the ED theme was the sweater song.

Also, I wish my hair was emo. Then it’d cut itself.

Galaxy Angel Beta Vol. 1 – Manga Review

galaxy-angel-beta-1-cover.jpg

The Galaxy Angel saga continues with the Galaxy Angel Beta series. But if it’s “beta,” wouldn’t that suggest a prequel of sorts? And what happened to alpha? Unless the original was an implied alpha…
