Hey, everyone’s favorite psychopathic bitch is back in Suzuka Volume 2! Who am I referring to? Hint: her name is Suzuka.

Air: From the creators of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya!?

So I got this PR thingy from ADV about a new promo on their Air site where you can download the first DVD (for not free). Sort of boring, and I didn’t really want to link to it, but when I went ahead to the “official site” I see this:

air-of-suzumiya-haruhi.jpg

While it’s true that Kyoani worked on Air before before working on Haruhi Suzumiya, are they really the “creators?” More like the animators. Air is a creation of Key, while Haruhi Suzumiya is a light novel written by Nagaru Tanigawa and illustrated by Noizi Ito.

Maybe I’m being nitpicky, but it just seems like a pretty sad attempt to cash in on Haruhi fever. A more honest tagline would be “From the animation studio that brought you The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya!” And let’s not forget about Munto!

Le Chevalier d’Eon – Danse Macabre (Vol. 3): Anime DVD Review

le-chevalier-deon-vol-3.jpg

For some reason, I always associate the Le Chevalier Robin with Robin from Batman. Sure, they’re both sidekicks, but while Batman Robin can actually fight, Le Chev Robin just kinda cowers in fear and waves his gun around…

Doki Doki School Hours (Sensei no Ojikan) Vol. 1 – Anime DVD Review

doki-doki-school-hours.jpg

Doki Doki School Hours is that one anime based on a 4koma manga that people can’t help but compare to Azumanga Daioh. Not like that’s a bad thing to be associated with Azumanga…

Innocent Venus: Free Anime! (1st Episode)

innocent-venus.jpg

So in typical ADV fashion, the first episode of Innocent Venus is available at IGN for streaming goodness. I previewed this almost a year ago (but I didn’t continue watching it due to the CG, and now I’m reminded again of how bad it is!) in case you want some screenshots.

Quick English VA Impressions:

  • Sana is okay, but she doesn’t sound young enough.
  • Annoying kid (Gora) is probably the best VA, which is weird considering that character is the most annoying.
  • Everyone else is pretty bad. Either sounding too emo (Jin) or cheesy (random terrorist dudes)

Ah, Initial D. Subject of many parodies that I don’t understand. Until now, of course. Suddenly, that one episode of Lucky Star is a lot funnier…

Funimation Licenses Melancholy of Haruhi Fujioka (Ouran High School Host Club)

ouran-haruhi.gif

Via ANN, it looks like Funimation licensed the Ouran High School Host Club anime. Sweetttt!!!!

It’s nice to see this anime get some credit after seeing the other Haruhi get licensed. Fujioka beats Suzumiya, hands down.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei – Anime First Impressions

I think Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is kind of like the Japanese antithesis of “Welcome Back Mr. Kotter.” But I could just be making that up, since I’ve never actually seen an episode of WBMK in my entire life.
